The Summer heat is officially here, and we are already searching for the best spots to cool down around Queensland. We are certainly spoilt for choice here in Queensland when it comes to spots to cool off. Here are some of our favourite off-the-beaten-track spots around Queensland that we just can’t resist in Summer!
Beat the heat at Behana Gorge
Half an hour south of Cairns lies Behana Gorge – a stunning swimming spot for those who do not mind getting physical. Head to the base of Walshs Pyramid and strap on your walking shoes for a 45-minute uphill walk. It might be hard work, but you will be rewarded when you arrive at the Gorge and see the beautiful rock pools and waterfalls, it will be all worth it!

Explore in a transparent kayak!
Kayaking is fun, but kayaking in a clear-bottom kayak is even better, especially when you are surrounded by an abundance of marine life. A transparent kayak tour is a fantastic way to take in the magnificent sights of Tangalooma Island.
Take a dip in Bingil Bay
Bingil Bay, near Mission Beach is the perfect place to head if you want a little privacy. This beautiful secluded beach is surrounded by rainforest and is a great place to while away a Summer day by the water…
Swim in a freshwater creek…
Did you know that Eli Creek on Fraser Island pours up four million litres of freshwater into the ocean every hour? This beautiful creek is the ideal spot to cool down on a hot Summer’s day. We would recommend bringing something to float on, and then kicking back!
Cool off at the Currumbin Rock Pools
Further down the coast, the Currumbin Rock Pools are the perfect place to unwind and cool off. You can find the Currumbin Rock Pools off Currumbin Valley Road on the Gold Coast. Cougal Cascades at the end of Currumbin Valley Road is also an idyllic spot to have a splash!
