A magical sand island in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef
Upolu Cay is a stunning natural formation just 30 kilometers from Cairns 💦 Its protected, shallow waters make it the perfect location to explore the reef, and depending on the tide, it is home to a magical sand island 🏝️ For more details, visit http://bit.ly/Ocean-FreedomPosted by Queensland Weekender on Wednesday, 31 October 2018
Cairns is renowned as the gateway to The Great Barrier Reef. The Cairns Marina is packed throughout the year with visitors and locals alike wanting to experience the reef for themselves!
There are many ways you might choose to get out there but if it’s tons of fun, personalised and friendly staff and incredible memories you want, then we recommend jumping on board Ocean Freedom!
The 6-hour day tour whisks you away to two great destinations, the Outer Edge of Upolu Reef and the Upolu Cay. Guests have the option to either snorkel or dive these two reef locations. If you’ve never dived before but wish to try it, why not do an Introductory Dive?
Time your reef visit right and you’ll be able to experience the magic of the Uplou Cay – a sand island that emerges from the ocean! Depending on the tides, you’ll spend the morning or afternoon enjoying your own private island with your new-found friends – how very ‘Richard Branson’ of you!
By the end of the day you’ll be sun-kissed, smiling and wishing it wasn’t time to go home! However, an overnight stay at the Vue Apartments in Trinity Beach is a pretty good incentive to head back to shore. The luxury apartments are self-catered so you’ll have all the comforts of home, right on your doorstep. The infinity pool is well worth a visit too. It overlooks the ocean, so you can daydream about your reef adventures. If that’s not a great day out exploring our state, we don’t know what is!
